About Me

Anthony Lee ( he/him) is an emerging writer and director working in theatre and film on the stolen and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, colonially known as Vancouver. Since 2018, Anthony has been working with theatre and film companies as a director, editor, writer, technical director, projection designer, educator, digital technologist and consultant.
With his interdisciplinary practice in film and theatre, Anthony has been challenging existing ways of storytelling. His playwriting debut, Discounted Hotpot Centre , a live-cooking solo show, was presented across Metro Vancouver, including Vancouver Fringe Festival and rEvolver Festival, and has received an overwhelmingly positive reception during its run.
As a Hong Konger, his works investigate the impacts of cultural diaspora and post-colonial Hong Kong anarchism. Supported by the National Film Board, Canada Councils for the Arts and Playwrights Theatre Centre, Anthony’s lastest work, Don’t think about the Pink Dolphins, is an animation hybrid film that challenges existing diasporic narratives in Asian Canadian media. Anthony’s work has been presented nationally and internationally.
Anthony received his BFA in Film Production from Simon Fraser University in 2021. He is currently an artistic associate at Radix Theatre.
In Winter 2025, Anthony will embark on a research trip across Asia for his upcoming projects.
